Hi Andy,
Thanks for following on twitter [ @h2cm ] and for highlighting the social media guidance. I try not to spend too much time on FB - it can be a real distraction. Confidentiality is of course essential and I'd have to say I've some photos of patients from the former asylum I trained at 1977-79.
There was fascinating point that arose when a former patient's family contacted my old manager (now sadly deceased) regards a relative they had traced to that hospital. Another dimension to reflect upon that the memories of senior staff are the only link for families who never realised mum - dad (whoever in the family) had a sibling. Another 'dilemma' was the admissions ledger that was rescued from a skip.
Those hospitals are a key part (and never to be repeated!) of our social history, hence the importance of archiving. The ledger is now with the appropriate county archive.
I blog at "Welcome to the QUAD" and considered the question of - to blog or not to blog a few years ago:

I'll add these latest guidelines to another post Andy.

Enjoy the summer (and Tree of Life)!
Kind regards

It's extremely important to make professions like nursing and midwifery aware of the pitfalls of Facebook. But I suspect a lot of problems come from the average user not really knowing how to do simple things like adjusting their privacy settings. It doesn't stop people doing stupid things, but if sites such as Facebook were to make it easier to adjust their settings - and think a lot more carefully about what was 'public' and what was 'between' friends, maybe we would see fewer online misdemeanours? But then again, maybe that's a much bigger battle to fight!

Wow Impressive!
Your blog is very informative. However, it is pretty hard task but your post and experience serve and teach me how to handle and make it more simple and manageable.
Thanks for the tips… Best regards.

Might as well expose yourself and find out if you are immune or not. If you are immune you won't catch it, if you ain't well you will be in a few weeks. Better now than when you are an old man when it will be much worse.

Interesting... but sort of suggests that deception is a key route into successful communication. While this might be true at the level of spin doctors, I'm not sure this works organisational, because can smell bullshit a mile away. I'm all for upfront openness myself.
